What we loved about Tuscany – a recap

We had a wonderful time in Tuscany in June 2024—severe belly ache from esophagitis aside. The rolling hills, tall grass, and golden sunrises were absolutely enchanting. As we drove through the countryside, I kept wondering what beautiful landscape would reveal itself after the next turn.

And the food and wine were spectacular!

My personal favourite spots in Tuscany

Pienza – The cutest village I’ve ever seen. Forget Montepulciano, forget Siena—Pienza was hands down my favourite. It’s small, charming, and every corner looks like a postcard. Have an ice cream at Buongusto gelateria. The owner will happily tell you all about his home made ice creams and they taste delicious and not overly sweet.

Cortona – The village with the best views. Perched high on a hill, it offers stunning vistas and plenty of little streets to get lost in. Grab a slice of pizza at Pizza e Focacce on the piazza—simple, cheap, and delicious.

Lucignano – Where time seems to stand still. This tiny, medieval village takes maybe only 30 minutes to walk through, but every moment is worth it. You’ll spot Italian nonnas sitting on benches or their doorsteps, chatting loudly with each other as if nothing has changed in decades.
